Often I used to think, if I had a piece of land with my
house! I was thinking of growing veggies at home since long. Never knew that
they can be grown in container. Never knew that it is so easy to grow from
seed! I asked many farmer, so many nurseries but all came with a vague
response. Ultimately, thanks to google and facebook group Organic Terrace Gardening, I could gather some information regarding
veggie growing in containers.
With my short journey I can distinctly find out the
advantages of growing plants in containers. Firstly, each plant has a definite
root growth and none of them need the whole earth to sustain. Most of them are
quite happy with 15 to 20 liters of media. When in container, I can control everything. I
can control watering, feeding, maintain pH and so on very easily. If anything
goes wrong, I can immediately take step to rectify it. At the most I have to
sacrifice a single plant that is also absolute rarity. I can shift them to
different lighting situation as and when needed. I can quarantine so easily in case of
infestation. I can protect a particular plant by different means… The list goes
on.
So friends, just take a step to start your container gardening
journey, you will be amazed, I can assure you.
